There are wine regions located throughout California. Napa is by far the most popular. You can find great wines from Napa ... is beautiful and there are fantastic places to eat. Napa may be on the expensive side for tasting wine .... wineries usually costs $ 10 - $ 20 per person for a tasting of their wines.

Sonoma is so beautiful ... more spread and relaxed. Sonoma is less crowded and not too expensive for the tasting. There are fabulous restaurants in Sonoma as well.

I like both areas. A third option would Amador County in the foothills of the Sierra. This area is sparsely attended ... Most wineries do not charge at all for the wine tasting. The region is known for its wonderful Zinfandel, but they produce a lot of other wines as well. One of my favorite places for a wine tasting tour!

Napa, I did both and I prefer to Napa.
