What is the most common name for an English pub in the CAMRA real ale guide? I do not have the book because I drink cider!
The Red Lion, although I do not know what a pub called at a distance of 20 miles for me
it would be called a "Inn" and it is an old English word were people would not just go to drink, people who did not want to be found by the city of county militia / used to attend these places, they had rooms above the area to drink or "Drinking Den" building, where they could sleep at night, however, the rooms was not very comfortable and the bed Ould more may have been a straw mattress, or any other form of bed.
In addition, the most common name should be something like "Kings / Queens Arms" and the date when the building was an armory / local militia recruiting station at a given moment in its history.
Horsehead White or Kings
I once heard that it was the Red Lion.
