Green Tea PlantHow to grow your own green tea plants

Green tea is known worldwide for its health benefits. Some data suggest that green tea (regular consumption of alcohol) reduces the chances of heart disease, prevents the development of certain types of cancer, and was claimed useful for losing weight.

The green tea plant, scientifically known as Camellia sinensis is the species of plant whose leaves and leaf buds are used to produce green tea. Growth of a green tea plant is no different than growing any other kind of tea, or any other plant, too. Below is an easy to follow guide on how to plant and cultivate green tea on your own.

  1. Buy or make cuttings of plants from green tea greenhouse from your local.
  2. Plant your cuttings in a sandy soil. Water frequently and add fertilizer occasionally.
  3. Place mulch around your plants to reduce weeds and maintain soil moisture.
  4. Ready to harvest? Harvest only the youngest leaves and buds of tea plucking in the terminal three leaves with the terminal bud.
  5. Allow the tea leaves picked green to dry away from direct contact with the sun for several hours.
  6. Once the leaves are dry, the leaves of steam in a saucepan on the stove at a temperature of 500 degrees Fahrenheit for 14 minutes. Move the stove continues to keep the leaves from burning.
  7. To dry leaves, place them in an oven at a temperature of about 225 degrees Fahrenheit for ten minutes.
  8. Keep the leaves of green tea in a cool, dark place until you are ready to use.
  9. Brew and drink like any other tea.

Notes

If you follow the steps above and the growth of green tea from cuttings, it may take up to three years for a green tea plant to harvest viable. If you want to grow green tea from seeds, it will take longer (more than 3 years) to get a viable plant before harvest.
