Vadodara, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda today conferred the Degree of Doctor of Science Honoris Causa to Mr. Mukesh Ambani, Chairman and Managing Director Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) in a brilliant ceremony here today. The chancellor of MS University
His Excellency Dr. Mrunalini Devi Puar greeted Mr Ambani with a shawl and
gave her the honorary degree of applause in the middle of the high
collection.
The MS University had organized a superb 56th Annual Convocation of the University premises today in the evening attended by a large number
dignitaries, members of the Senate of the University and the Union, and graduate students, among others. Another recipient of a Doctor of Letters honoris causa was Sri Sri Ravishankar, the popular yoga guru. Lord Karan Bilimoria was the guest of honor at this occasion.

Mr. Mukesh Ambani is the latest addition in the glorious fifteen who received the degree of Doctor Honoris Causa from the MS University of Baroda early. Celebrities who have been previously honored by the University include Dr. Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Dr. Kanaiyalal Munshi, Dr. Jivraj Mehta,
Mr. Kurien Verghese et al. Incidentaly, Mr. Mukesh Ambani is the sole beneficiary
to have received this honor at fortunate 50 ie the youngest age.
Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani Mukesh is a chemical engineer at the University of Bombay and an MBA from Stanford University, USA. He is the man behind Reliance vertical integration from textiles into polyester fibers and
later in the petrochemical, oil refining, and exploration and production
oil and gas. In the process, he directed the flagship Reliance Industries Limited
and created several manufacturing facilities involving diverse class
technology and set records in the exemplary implementation of projects since 1981.
The creation of the largest oil refinery in the grass-root at Jamnagar, the establishment of information most important and most complex communications network under the banner of Reliance Infocom (now Reliance Communications)
and piloting the implementation of a pan-India organized retail network infrastructure supply chain are some of the major achievements to the credit of Mr.
Mukesh Ambani.

Earlier in 2007, he was given with the Global Vision Award 2007 for
Leadership by USIBC, conferred with the head AND Business of the Year Award
in 2006, received the first NDTV Profit Global Indian Leader Award from the
Prime Minister of India and co-chaired the World Economic Forum
Davos in 2006 etc. Mr. Ambani is also the chairman of Reliance Petroleum
Limited and Reliance Retail Limited memberships also participate in the first
Ministerial Council for Trade and Industry, CSIR, NCAER, Indo-American CEO
Forum etc. The award of the degree of Doctor of Science MS
University of Baroda added to list the most popular Mr. Mukesh
Ambani otherwise luminescent character.
