Leaf Boarding

Leaf BoardingA disorder in Leaf Land

Everyone in Toronto is in a panic. The leaves are a lose and again after 40 years without a cup we are all in arms. Blame whoever you want, but the point is that this team has not had a solid foundation to build on for years. Like any good organization to build a winning starts at the top and filters down. When was the last time the Leafs had a strong leadership? Pat Quinn has certainly been a good leader, but his hands are tied to some extent. As was Cliff Fletcher. No people, we must look up and start the property.

Pension Board of the teacher has this team. How many other NHL teams are owned by a large group? Of course there are many markets with investment groups and "silent partners". The difference here is the factor of profitability. Everyone in the company wants to be profitable, but you can not ignore the fact that it is more important for a group of stakeholders retirement. Imagine ... the Leafs are losing money, lower pensions and teachers can not retire. With the Toronto market, which will probably never happen. And with the pension group holding this team out of greed and a lack of respect for the heritage does not expect a cup anytime soon. What Toronto needs a single owner or group with a responsible person and focused on winning.

Focused on victory? What a concept! Can you imagine if the Leafs had the same commitment from Ottawa or New Jersey or Detroit. Well, they admit it or not Peddie and Tanenbaum are the two execs hockey discussion exist. One the other Yin Yang. Although they say "did not do" the other is exactly the opposite. Success comes from management and the alignment requirements of leadership and consistency. How is the rest of the organization requires to know what happens if these two clowns do not know what is and what is down? For credit Tanenbaum, it offers more in terms of lost revenue and hockey knowledge, but to be a minority shareholder on the last word is always left to Peddie. Why keep these guys? or elsewhere, why keep Peddie? Obviously, he turns profit and that is what the board wants, but Let's Get Real. The Maple Leafs are also close to a Sure Shot ROI as any product can possibly be. Watch Harold Ballard. This guy ripped off fans for years and still in the grip of cash. Commitment of victory is clearly the last thing on the minds of retirement advice.

John Ferguson Jr.? What else needs to be said. He made some mistakes brutal. draft pick too many, non-commercial clause, business prospects, ... list is long. Obviously this guy was not ready for prime time when our friend brought him in. Peddie Who is to blame? Both, of course. The responsibility and ownership has not been a strong point for either, and yes, if your leaders are not responsible do you think everyone in the food chain will be? I have some empathy for Ferguson. I mean, if my boss ran constantly through the media how Peddie with Ferguson I'd probably lose my marbles. This does not mean that Peddie is not right about the shortcomings Ferguson is just that some things must be left behind closed doors. But Peddie needs a scapegoat and someone to take responsibility. It is not that we know who is. A true leader will always back their team whatever the circumstances. Again, Peddie does not prove anything in the department of leadership. When the faithful witness of this type of behavior they feel it is acceptable and will disciple.

Paul Maurice? Give him a chance. You can not make chicken salad from chicken shit. From the first day he worked with a limited talent trying to make the most of it. I think he has a real desire to win ... one of the few in the organization.

At the end of the day the evolution of GM and the coaches will not work to save the Leafs. They need to start from the top and work down. Let's get a new owner, CEO and P.
