Mess of the U.S. Air Force 344th Bomb Group from 1944 to 1945. Herts & Essex House Girls Boarding School 1946 - 1960 (when manager was Miss Pearse, hence the name change of the house in the 60s). Hertfordshire Education Committee for 1960-1977. Today The current owners have tried to preserve the atmosphere and comfort of this Victorian family home of the 19th century, while adding modern comforts and facilities demanded by enterprise customers the 21st century. Now transformed into a hotel and conference center, it offers fine dining and meeting and conference rooms for business and private use. Hotel: Hotel Pearse House is a three star private mansion owned, with 38 rooms. All come with private bathroom, telephone and free WiFi. Dining: Pearse House Hotel has a choice of two dining rooms.
