Jumping into production in 1958, Donald Healey Sprite was a low cost sports car which used existing parts for BMC over the heads of production cars remained low. The Austin Healey Sprite would prove to be a great success.

The commonly called "Austin Frogeye", the Mark I Sprite was a huge success in his three years of production, with no other car competing on price or performance. As its name suggests Nick widely used, the distinctive look of the brand Sprite I itself due to the round headlights on the hood of the car, nicked named "Frog" eye headlamps. Cheap and easy to maintain, the wings and the bonnet was a one-piece unit that opened to allow easy access and wide engine. The Mark I uses 948cc Austin A-series engine that was tunable and capable of 43bhp, the gearbox and axles A35, twin SU carburetors and. Equipped with spring suspension front and wishbone suspension at the rear, the brand I got suspended from earlier models such as the A35 and Moris Minor.

The Mark II has seen a few cosmetic changes, including projectors famous being moved on the wings, a change of rear bumper, and the introduction of front disc brake. The Mark II also features a new engine over the Morris Minor 1000 Morris Minor 1100, increasing the engine size of 1098cc.

A less performance oriented Sprite Mark III has been fined more with lockable doors, the wind window and rear quarter. With the rebadging of the sprite by BMC to Midget, Sprite Mark III was also sold as the MG Midget Mark II.

The Mark IV had two main differences, with an increased capacity to 1275cc and a convertible roof instead of roofs changes earlier.

The production of this classic car ended in 1971. Today, many of these classic cars are known as "Spridgets" with classic car enthusiasts in the community because of the Austin Healey Sprite MG Midget and shares the same design and parts. This makes finding parts relatively easy because the parts being interchangeable.
