Rummy Q Rules

I have a question I know how to play, but when I played with my sister and she did what I put below, I'm positive it was not fair.
(A = ACE = Q K = King and Queen, etc. ..)

They were down (they were all clubs):

AKQJ


So when my turn came I got rid of my two clubs, because they decided to play
AKQJ

They called Rummy on the map and took two and put it in front of the Ace so it resembled

2 AKQJ

What looks bad because say if it continued, it would look like this:

... 5 4 3 2 AKQJ


So I said they could not do it, but then she said that my father did it before and I said it was a mistake and he probably just did it for fun. So my friend wanted to learn to play because my parents played and I pushed everything to my father and he still can not admit that it seems wrong.

So what I am saying is that if you go play

AKQJ

If you are allowed to begin putting the 2, 3, 4 etc. in front of the ACE does it look to (4 3 2 AKQJ) because I thought you can only play either
AKQJ 10 ... etc.
or
A 2 3 4 5 .. etc.

Thus did they play incorrectly or right?


I hope that made sense.

Ace is both high and low.

Thus, you can go JQKA, and you can go A234

However, you can not use both top and bottom at the same time. Cycles like this are not allowed.

So you can not have JQKA23 etc. ..
