Did Dave Pelzer Mother of 'A child called "Have BPD? The whole time I read "A child called it," I could not help making correlations between David Pelzer's mother (Catherine Christen Pelzer Roerva) and borderline personality disorder. After I finished read the book, I began my search to see what Catherine had suffered mental illness. All I managed to find that she was mentally ill and alcoholics. No details emerged from this type of mental illness she suffered. Thus, the facts about Catherine from "a child called it" and professional resources about BPD, I ask if that Catherine suffered from borderline personality disorder (BPD) .
Dave Pelzer paints the picture of a seemingly normal childhood until his mother's behavior has changed radically. He describes his mother as a witch "wicked" on (pg 30), who put the nail on the head. It presents the behavior of prototypical Witch BPD. "The darkness within witch is destroying rage. His inner experience is the conviction of being evil, and his performance evokes the submission ... It is full of self-hatred and can choose one child as the target of his rage. The message of her child witch is: Life is war "(PG 38) Lawson.
Wow. Catherine was certainly filled with rage. Each page of this book, Catherine has been filled with rage that she released the day of his son after day. His inner experience is the conviction that evil, even when she speaks of it on (pg 41) of Pelzer's book, "Now it's time I showed you what hell is!" Throughout its violence, its behavior was to discuss David's presentation. She was constantly beaten by the mentally, emotionally and physically. He said that his soul has been consumed in a black hole of intense violence by his mother (p. 132). Certainly it was filled with self-hatred as shown by his drinking, not taking care of herself ("Her bouquets once beautiful, shiny hair is worn. As usual, it does not makeup. She is overweight, and she knows it. In all, this has become the typical "mother" on page 5), and be so filled with rage destroy. And the fact that the witch BPD distinguishes a child as a target of his anger is so revealing because Catherine David finger. For years he was the only child abuse. When David was placed in foster care, the younger brother was later identified as the target of his rage.
David was without doubt the child "not good", but he did remarkably out that Lawson identified as the lost child (pg 171). His mother, Catherine, told him a "bad boy" and an entire chapter is devoted to the "bad boy" David.
- Catherine David had a look in the mirror and recite: "I am a bad boy" several times (p. 31).
- Even if he succeeded at school, his mother told him he was a "bad boy" and kept him in Grade 1 (pg 36).
- David was left to Christmas because Santa just to make "good boys and girls' toys (pg 38).
- His mother accuses David to his life a living hell "(p. 41) talks with other brothers and sisters saying how she did not have to worry about their future, like David," bad boy " (p. 43).
- Although David was given the honor of naming the school newspaper, Catherine said: "There is nothing you can do to impress me! You hear me? You are a person! An IT! You are nonexistent! You are a bastard! I hate you and I wish you were dead. Dead! You hear me? Dead! "(Pg 140).
As mentioned above, the message from the witch of BPD at her child that life is war. David received this message early in the story as he puts on (pg 43) "For the first time I won! Standing alone in the damp, dark garage, I knew for the first time I could not survive. I decided that I would use a tactic I could think of to defeat or delay mother.
