Whisky Tasting

Whisky TastingWhiskey tasting?

Some Speysides and a couple of Islay for you to compare:

Speysides: Monkey Shoulder vatted (or pure) Malt 40%
12YO single malt sherry a'Bunadh Aberlour finished 56.9%

Islay: Bruichladdich 13YO single malt Reciota arrival 46%
Bowmore Single Malt 18yo 40%

Can you rate them in order of preference?

Good tasting :-)

I've never heard of Monkey Shoulder but personally I would rate the Islay malts higher than Speyside. I prefer the depth of flavor in the complex whiskey Islay and Speyside find to be more "simple" in flavor, but less satisfying drink. I know people who prefer things the other way and I do not like the strong flavors of the malts of Islay.

Cuold tihng is Maek trhouhg the first three large bottles. Geesh I Giong to sikc.

No, but I give my best if you send me a bottle of each.

Bowmore 18yo - Its ok

The Glenlivet 18yo - Good

Highland Park 18-Good

I think everything 12YO single malt or yong has not yet matured.

I thought it was an invitation! I am depressed today. I like any scotch - single malts better.Irish is too strong. American whiskey - Jack Daniels as tannins or too something. Southern Comfort is good - but sweet. Send me a bottle of each and I'll give you a better response next week.

I wish they were sitting in front of me
"Yes, I like whiskey!
I would choose the Isle of Islay as the first
I like Briney
but the substance of deep peat is great as well
depends on the mood
and taste of your cigar alcohol with it

I would give my brother-brother, he is still far from whiskey tasting and a passionate collector, he likes it!

I tried to Bowmore, but did not like, too earthy, but I tend to drink or Irish whiskey or Jack Daniels. Find Irish much smoother but you can not beat the old sour dough!

I'm not big on the river Spey varieties. They are beautiful, but I like Scotch fighting.

For me, Bowmore and Bruichaddich are among the quietest of the Islay malts.

I like most of Ardbeg. I have a 1978 that I never opened. The bottle is 6 years and begins to worry. Soon I will crack open. I also have a little signatory bottling of 1974 (21yo) who has become famous in my neighborhood. I called, "The Scots language that puts your sleep."
