What is Oolong Tea?
While oolong tea (also called "Wu Yi Tea" or "Wu Long tea") is widely consumed in the Far East, it still has a mysterious aura to it here in America.

This air of mystery is encouraged (and funded) by the marketing companies who keep changing the name of the tea to make it seem more like an ancient Chinese secret for weight loss. The simple truth is that tea is no longer a secret, and (since its origin about 400 years ago), it is not particularly old either.
Oolong, Wu Long and Wu Yi Tea ... What is the difference?
Oolong tea has several different names. It is often referred to as Wulong "or" Wu Long "tea, and, most recently, Wu Yi," the tea. However, even if they have different names, each of these teas are harvested, prepared, and rolled like Oolong.

Originally, different names have been the result of a mistranslation honest. This happened because there are several different methods of translating Chinese into English. Using one method of pronunciation the first character is "Oo", but with the other method the first sound is "Wu". Hence the name of oolong tea is either "or" wulong "according to the method of translation.
